Can the front of the canopy be changed if it has rotten away and would you have to support the roof of canopy to do so ? As mine has rotten and the easiest fix would be that if possible
Proper graft. Perfect.
Flemish bond, running bond, headers, stretchers, kings, etc. It's veneer. It's fake.
Nice job. How much would a job the same as this be so i can get an idea from my builders? Thanks
Hi, is it necessary to tie in the bricks with steel rods? I’ve had some builders say yes and some no. Wasn’t sure if just personal preference or guidelines. This is re a chimney stack with total of 13 rows

Boy, I thought I was Mr overkill.
Im surprised with the thickness of this foundation. It seems to be like 200mm thick, based on the pegs you used to level ?
at 6:58 it seems you need soud proof DB plaster board, in case you missed
A queen closure is a whole bruck cut down the middle.
Raked out joint is terrible for thise shite bricks ....... Flush would be far better . 👍🏴
Just off to the hire shop for a mini digger !
6 weeks for 2, 20 minute shitty welds, renovation work is great isn't it
Im wont my too haw much cost? One toilet wc and small washbasin
My name is DANIEL, do you have a position for me ?
Ahhhh the black eyed Brickie, shoddy workmanship 😂😂😂😂😂😂
So ingenious, the marking out, keeping it all level and plumb. Second nature to these guys but its just so clever. Great video series
Lovely work
Thanks for explaining that Einstein, just stack your pricks on top of each other and fuck off 😂😂😂😂😂
I have the same level...but not the same ability.
What is it with these thick fucking Bricklayers all of a sudden , thinking it is interesting watching them stack bricks on top of each other , ffs 😂😂😂😂
If have to cut more than 3 times.... nock a jig up
Your sand in your compo must be fine.... the red building sand we have here in Manchester doesnt make a creamy mix thats spreadable like that!... great channel top notch work!
@@mervmervalot2296 thanks…..sand actually varies from the various builders merchant in our area tbh…this was kmk’s and it was super fine👍
Even mrs is helping 🎉
Nice work Chris, looking forward to seeing that boundary wall on the Victorian extension (your best one to date I reckon) is that your grandson still on with you?🤓☝️🧱
Proper bricky,,,,no flip flops and knows his stuff and doesn't bore his mate to death 😂😂
But its not a flat arch vut a shallow arch or cambered arch. If it was a flat arch (a bit of a misnomer) the bottom cord would be flat and it wouldn't work as an arch.
Awesome
Can i ask - why arent you creating angled joints? No criticism, just curious as most i see have continuous levels for the joints through the arch.
@@razzek2638 I’m guessing you mean cutting voiswars where the bricks are shaped like a v….if that’s what you mean then this arch doesn’t need them cutting the brick works in!
No, more the joints between the header and stretcher of the arch are not in line or cut to be parallel with the beds of the courses running through.
@@razzek2638 Oh right, no this is a Camber arch, it replicates the one on the original opposite side….thats how they’re designed. Some of the flat arches do that, depends on their design! If you look the full RUclips I made on my channel you’ll see the whole job👍
@@foundationgood123vousoirs?
Whats the steel for if you have all that masonry under it?
Holding the weight above the RO due to the opening
Ask the architect
@@mervmervalot2296 As an Architect I can confirm that the steel is there to initially provide temporary support whilst the arch is formed and secondly as its an infill the arch will sag a little if put under full load thus creating horizontal settlement cracks. For this arch to perform on its own the whole wall would have to be rebuilt, putting the steel in is cheap and prevents possible serious results, this way the arch has only to support itself/
David moyes has fallen on hard times he's back repairing utd ground
That mortar looks thin
Looks 3/8" from my screen
Sloppy I mean
I’d be bursting for a piss all day there 😂
Proper bricky not like flipflop brecky,,, how about English bond .
A master at work 👍

Sir, your skills are amazing
Great vids. I’ve started digging out the foundation for a garden room which will have an insulated slab floor. Do you think I really need to dig down to 1m for the footings though? It’s permitted development so I don’t need building regs but it is clay. Cheers
Chris you are elegant in your master skills.
superb job 👏
surely that amount of water must weaken the concrete severely ?
The concrete is a C25 over site mix, it’s a standard slump and is water graded to that standard. The water you saw was rain water on the visqueen which was scooped off into the cavity as the flowing concrete pushed it upwards. If you look carefully you’ll see the worker with the red tamper dragging it into the cavity!
i see the mortar between the bricks dried differnt colours did you use differnt sand?
No it’s all same sand from same builders merchant, the mix was a 4 sand x 1 cement! Possibly it was taking time to cure more than other areas. See end result all brickwork has dried uniform!
Made my day with memories of building my house 40 odd years back. So refreshing to know that Flemish bond is still up there. Spoke to a young lad starting out and he has yet to do any work other than stretcher and bucket handle pointing. He had never heard of lime mortar which suprised me. Loved the nice touch of the camber arch over the window and a proper looking cill.
No mortar between the block? Only that tiny core filled?
They are an interlocking block and don’t have purp joints, the hole that’s being filled are the gaps used for the bricklayers hands in order to lift the blocks and helps to lay the heavy blocks!
I had to do one of these, and it's my first attempt at brick laying. Its going OK so far, but I've got a bad suspicion it's one of the more tricky things to try for a beginner. Because unlike if you were doing a wall, there's no string line to follow, and you're putting the next bricks right on top of the ones you just laid, and putting the 2nd brick on always wants to upset the first as you push the buttered side together.
Nice one. We need to keep your skills alive, I hear a lot of new-build chimneys are now GRP because of the skills shortage. :(
How the hell do you get a builder on your job who is this good? It's total pot-luck. There's a lot of regulations to follow but absolutely no way for an average home-owner to verify if builders are even going to bother.
Maybe you could do a short tutorial on profile ans story poles? You are such a good craftsman.
